Anson ~ North Anson Snowmobile Club

December 2017

Winter has arrived!!! Santa gave us the gift of snow for Christmas this year. Cold temperatures have also arrived….all this is making for a promising snowmobile season. After more then 600 hours of hard work by our dedicated volunteers, the trails have been cleared. The first trail report of the 2017-2018 season posted on 12/28/17 is as follows: ITS 84 is open and groomed from Solon to New Portland hill connection. Ramp constructed on carrabasett river crossing. Note: Active logging operation on ITS 84 @ Four mile square road, please use caution.
Anson / Starks municipal trail is open and packed. ( not groomed yet, will groom after the next significant snow storm)
Club trail: Sandy river trail crossing in Starks is opened and packed. ( check river crossing before using )
We are planning on working on all other club trails this weekend.
Note: Our trail system has had several changes this year due to landowner request, so please stay on the marked / groomed trail..

Last month I reported we were working on a couple of trail re-routes. Both have been completed. In Starks we re-routed into the woods to by-pass some fields as requested by a landowner. In North Anson we have a new trail behind Cousineau’s Mill. Both trails required permission from several landowners. We thank everyone who helped get permission and we THANK the landowners who allow us to cross their property. Without them, we would not have a trail. Both new trails required a bridge be built and required cutting and brushing. Once again, thanks to the volunteers who worked so hard on these projects.

We had a good turnout for our Christmas party despite the falling snow. We had 27 in attendance. After a brief meeting, we all enjoyed a delicious pot luck supper followed with BINGO. The children attending made for an enjoyable evening for all. Our members were very generous with non-perishable food donations for our local food pantry
The most recent report on membership is as follows: 67 members, 8 affiliate members, 7 business members, and 9 sign board advertisers. Bob’s Cash Fuel in Madison, one of our advertisers, offers non-ethanol fuel 24 hours a day with a trail right to the pump. Another advertiser, Pinkham’s Elm Street Market in No. Anson offers food and fuel. Let’s support our advertisers!
